Products Description

Palladium on carbon (Pd/C) is a highly efficient catalyst widely used in various organic synthesis reactions. Its physical form is black powder or pellets containing 5%~30% palladium, which is insoluble in organic solvents and acidic solutions, which makes it stable in the reaction. The main function of palladium on carbon is to promote hydrogenation reactions, including:

Hydrogenation of alkenes, alkynes, ketones, nitriles, imines, azides, nitro compounds, benzene rings and heterocyclic aromatic compounds.

Hydrogenolysis of cyclopropane, phenyl derivatives, epoxides, hydrazines and halides.

Dehydrogenation of aromatic compounds and deacylation of aldehydes.

In acidic or ammonium solutions, palladium on carbon can catalyze the hydrogenation of nitriles to form primary amines.

In alkaline environments, aromatic halides (such as Cl, I, Br, etc.) can undergo palladium-carbon-catalyzed hydrogenolysis reactions to achieve dehalogenation.

Azide or diazo compounds can be effectively reduced to amines.

‌ Under high temperature environment, palladium carbon shows effective dehydrogenation of carbocyclic and heterocyclic aromatic compounds.

Features:

‌ Stability: Insoluble in organic solvents and acidic solutions, maintaining stable catalytic activity.

‌ High efficiency: Can greatly accelerate the rate of many chemical reactions and is suitable for a variety of organic synthesis reactions.

‌ Recyclability: Palladium carbon after reaction can be recycled and reused, showing good durability and stability.
